First time poster, short time reader here :-) Anyway, so I'm looking to get into this fishing thing and I had this rod n' reel laying around. The rod is a Daiwa WL666SF and the reel is a Crossfire 2500-3i, so I pick it up and some how the very end rod tip broke. So knowing nothing about repair etc etc etc, I called up Daiwa and to my surprise they are going to send me out a new piece free of charge. Now the reason I'm surprised is because this level of customer service is rarley seen nowadays. Anyway I think Daiwa has a customer for life now.

Over the years our components have had a major impact in rod building. From the first ceramic guide, introduced by Fuji over 38 years ago, to the new wave of concept guides and tops, there is no doubt that these innovations have paved the way for new and better ways to use guides. The Concept Guides and tops introduced by Fuji have shown that rod performance relies on much more than the blank alone. Guides and Tops are just as integral a part of fishing as any other component. Fuji’s concept components allow a rod to have increased sensitivity, accuracy, and even improved weight balance without sacrificing strength and durability.

smalljaw 01/22/2005 - 12:52 Rod Building and Repair
Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue is the first one-part, water cleanup wood glue ever offered that is proven waterproof. The waterproof formula passes the ANSI/HPVA Type I water-resistance specification and offers superior bond strength, longer open assembly time and lower application temperature.
Titebond III is non-toxic, solvent free and cleans up with water - safer to use than traditional waterproof wood glues. It provides strong initial tack, sands easily without softening and is FDA approved for indirect food contact (cutting boards). The ultimate in wood glues - ideal for both interior and exterior applications.

Preformed grips are ok, but having the ability to turn your own grips really enforces the notion of a "custom built" rod.
