Buying a new reel
Steve826  08/05/2008 - 20:36  Roll Your Own  Technical Information    This Friday, my family is taking the trip to Arundal Mills Mall for an afternoon...and of course me and dad will spend some time at Bass Pro Shops. This is actually going to be my first time at BPS, I usually get my fishing supplies at Wal Mart and we went to Cabelas in April-that was fun. But I have some money saved up and I got to thinkin. I decided I think I need an upgrade from my Zebco 33. I've been looking at a couple reels, but I still havent 100% answered this question- should I upgrade from a spincaster to a spinning reel, or should I just buy a better spincaster? I am leaning towards buying the spinning reel, due to some very good advice from Mike. But I am a little leery about shelling out 60 bucks for a spinning reel because of the line twists that probably will come with a spinning reel. If I were to upgrade spincasters, I would go to this: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44496____SearchResults
Fishfinder?

OK, I know that I don't NEED one but I WANT one for some stupid reason. So here is the question...I have been looking hard at the Eagle FishElite 480.

It has some things that I really want like being able to record GPS and SONAR data on a removable card. The downside is that is as expensive as a decent color unit without the GPS and recording features.

Bottom line is that I would like to hear praises and flames about Eagle products in general and if there are alternatives in the same or lower price range ($300-$400) that I should be seriously considering.

Everything in life is a trade so what am I missing that I might be trading away here.

Thanks,
Smalljaw

Help Wanted
percman  04/03/2005 - 12:16  Technical Information    Greetings, I am new to this site and am glad to have found it. I could use some advice. I am about to purchase a new 17ft Tracker Grizzly for use at Liberty Resevior. The dealer tells me a single 80lb thrust minnkota will push it around nicely. Also was told that the Maximixer motors (24 volt) will increase run time up tp 5 times longer than wound motor. Any opinions would be welcome....Thanks

Need help with your web site color scheme?
smalljaw  03/04/2004 - 20:40  Technical Information
I found this site to be very informative as I was struggling to come up with a color scheme that fit what we wanted to convey on MDfishing.org. I'll admit I'm no artist and this really helped with color selection for me.
