Planted Some Trees Last Weekend.
TightLine  10/13/2006 - 08:18  Clubs and Organizations    Two friends of mine and I went and helped out the Chesepeake Bay Foundation (thanks for the tip Mike)last weekend. There were 138 volunteers, and we planted 800 trees and 400 shrubs along Glade Creek (above Frederick) that runs into the Monoc. It was a great experience...and a reall "feel good" thing to do. I was amazed at the number of volunteers. We started at 9:00 AM and finished at 12:30...just goes to show you what a big group of people can get done. They have more plantings coming up, and you can check their website for more info. I'll have some pictures soon. My digital camera got wet on a fishing/camping trip, but luckily I also had my film camera, but I won't get the pictures developed for a while.
Christian Smallie Adventure
smalljaw  04/06/2005 - 19:49  Clubs and Organizations  River    Guys, this is a Christian Men's Organization that Rod Champion supports. Rod will not be getting paid for this. But he and his son Matt will be doing the Guiding and providing canoes for anyone. The weekend will be good Christian Fellowship, with A Christian message. So come and Join them.

This is a Flyer being sent out nationally and many will not have ever smallmouth bass fished. Not written by me. We often take for granted the smallie fishing we enjoy. Rod has taken these fellows and they see it as some of the best fishing in the world. It is pretty good, isn't it?

Fly Fishing On the Toe River
The Canoe Club of Greater Harrisburg Pennsylvania
smalljaw  02/26/2005 - 23:23  Clubs and Organizations
"What’s the Club about?"
It's about water, mostly flat water on lakes, streams, and lazy rivers. High waves and churning rapids. Water rushing between rocks and sliding over ledges. Water rolling into gentle eddies, or drifting slowly through wooded hills, past abandoned settlements, and around islands filled with trees and birds and not much else. Even water from the ocean, reflecting the light of distant stars before breaking in waves upon the beach. Mostly the club is about water.

The Purpose of Potomac Valley Fly Fishers Club is:

(1) To promote fly fishing as a sportsman like and enjoyable way of fishing, and the most consistent with the preservation and wise use of our resources

(2) To provide advice, suggestions and assistance to club members

(3) To publicize the best practices and techniques of fly fishing, fly tying, fly casting and other related subjects and

(4) To maintain liaison with other organizations of sportsmen and conservationists.

Please feel free to drop in and join us! You don't have to know how to fly fish, just have the enthusiasm. We are a group who get together and talk about fly fishing and plan trips. Experience is not necessary. It's the enjoyment of the outdoors, conservation and fishing. Our meetings last approximately an hour and a half.
