UP - Thursday May 10, 2007, Fishing with ogBudha
muskalungee  05/11/2007 - 14:43  Trip Reports  Potomac

I hooked up with Ben (ogBudha) yesterday to do a little fishing on the UP. As always when you fish with someone for the first time, you never know what you’re getting yourself into. But Ben turns out to be a first class guy and angler. We were hoping to get some fishing in before the thunderstorms blew in, so we rolled the dice and off we went.

When I got to the ramp about 1400, Ben was already waiting in the water for me so I carried my gear down and off we went. It didn’t take long for us to get the skunk out of the boat as we picked up a couple at the first hole. Tubes seemed to be doing the trick, but in the beginning Ben seemed to be targeting only 10-12” bass of the green variety

After a few minutes we headed to the next hole and Ben turned it on, catching quite a few fish in the 14-17” range…all fat and sassy. Tubes were definitely the ticket, with fish holding in the typical current seams and chunk rock location around points. We didn’t see much bedding activity, but we weren’t fishing in typical bedding locations either so that didn’t surprise us.

All in all, it was a pretty good trip with us boating close to 30 fish. We had a few dinks mixed in there, but the 14+” fish were all healthy and didn’t realize how small they were. Thanks for the ride Ben, I look forward to the next one.

Ben's Tracker Panfish
muskalungee  05/12/2007 - 10:47    That's Ben's Tracker Panfish with a 50/30 Jet on it. It is a solid little boat with a ton of room, I really like how it was laid out, the front stick steer really frees up a lot of room b/c you don't have the steering wheel and console in the way. Since there is no way I can afford a Snyder, I may think seriously about a boat like that.

SS Wanker It Is
muskalungee  05/17/2007 - 10:05    I'll let you borrow the name SS Wanker until I get my own boat (which will be a while), then I'll have to take it back. :)

So, when are we taking a ride on the old Wanker? Wait, I want to take that last comment back. :)
