The Monocacy Water Trail is a self-guided tour of the lower
41.4 miles of the river from the MD 77 bridge east of Thurmont
to the Potomac River near Dickerson.
The Monocacy is usually runnable in the spring and early
summer up to mid-July and from late fall through winter
unless extreme drought conditions exist. The average floating
speed is two miles per hour.
