Open Invitation - MDfishing.org Gathering, Columbus Day October 10, 2005
muskalungee  08/29/2005 - 17:42  Friends of MDfishing.org  River    Every year on Columbus Day Jeff and I float the Upper Potomac from Bond's Landing to Little Orleans. This year the MDfishing.org membership has exploded and we've been trying to find a way to get everyone together to finally meet in person and do a little fishing. We've decided to open this trip up to all who are interested. No real details yet, we're just trying to gauge interest.

Here's what I need right now.
1 - If you're interested in the float
2 - If you have a boat to fish from (kayak or canoe)
3 - If you have room for another in your boat or an extra vessel to share with someone who doesn't have a boat
4 - If you'd be interest in a having a tourney, not too competitive since we're all out there to have a good time. i.e. Trophy awarded to winner, small entrance fee to cover just trophy cost
5- If you'd be interested in a commemoritive t-shirt (prices to follow based on if there is any interest)

Please respond to this post and answer the questions above
Rain?
oppiey  10/07/2005 - 06:00    Do you guys think the rain will be bringing up the river to high?
Last I heard wss 4-5 inches of rain in the Baltimore area. Not sure about how much rain Western Md is going to get.

Phil

Plan B - Go After Greenies
muskalungee  10/07/2005 - 12:59    Forcasts for the river have it going up to above 14ft on the gauge.....way to high for us to go up there. We're going to monitor it closely, but it doesn't look good. Plan B is going to yak one of two small local lakes and chase a few Greenies. Let me know if you're interested in that. I'd hate to drive all the way out to Western MD to have to turn back again. I want to catch some fish.

Drop me an email with your phone #'s and I'll get in touch with you to discuss. (I lost them when my cell phone died)

Mother Nature is being cruel!
Captwalleye  10/07/2005 - 10:34    This could definetly hurt us.I guess we'll have to start monitoring the river gauges and see what happens.I hope we can still go.

Interested
Munkin  09/28/2005 - 11:16    But I do not know if that is a company holiday or not?

Allen

Let us know...
smalljaw  10/01/2005 - 20:57    I believe that it is a government holiday. Unfortunately it is not a company holiday for me so I will be taking a vacation day to make this run. I will ping Mike soon to make sure that a mass emailing gets out on the logistics. My guess is that we will all meet up for breakfast at the Park-N-Dine in Hancock again and then convoy up from there. Here is the launch photo from this spring's trip.

I'm ready to go!
Captwalleye  10/02/2005 - 09:17    I'm looking forward to this,"BIGTIME"! Will our Ohio brothers be making the scene again?

Of course
smalljaw  08/31/2005 - 04:54    I am in. I believe that my extra boat has already been spoken for on this trip.

My reply.....
Captwalleye  08/30/2005 - 07:32    1.Yes
2.Yes,Kayak
3.Mmm,they have to be pretty small, and sit real still.
4.Yes,That would be cool.
5.Yes,I'd be interested.

I'm in. Coop
coop  08/29/2005 - 19:12    I'm in. And I'm bringing Rooster Tails. Coop

WHAT DATE
TOOBIGTOYAK  08/29/2005 - 18:32    Depending on the day of the week and if its an over nighter or not I may be interested. Even if I am not able to go I have a 17' sqare stern canoe with great stability for a novice some one can borrow if they have a truck to haul it. This is the start to the early duck season so I don't want to burn a get out of the house pass around that time. When you get a firm day let me know. A tourney would be cool, but you can't be predujiced you have to allow ALL BASS to count (just kidding) seeya BD

It's a Monday

TOOBIGTOYAK  08/29/2005 - 19:16    The duck season opens Oct 8 maybe I can make it a cast and blast. I can see it now- incoming!!! bang!!! bang!!! hey smalljaw can you get that duck for me ?? Fish on !!! I don't think smalljaw would appreciate all that. I probably won't be in but the offer still stands for the canoe seeya

Yes,,,
oppiey  08/29/2005 - 20:36    I am in. Oct should not be a problem. I have extra craft people can use.
A cast and blast sounds like fun to me,,lol

Mike, yes to all

Cast and Blast
Dee Tee  08/30/2005 - 09:33    I have been interested to know if anyone else here on the site is a hunter. I am first and foremost a bowhunter. However, I bought my kayak in camo for the express purpose of hunting ducks and geese on the rivers. I use fishing as an excuse to get out and scout new hunting spots. I am looking forward to the early September cast and blast season. Hope to see y'all out there. Question: If this event turns in to a competition, would there be a separate category for the best duck and bass combo? Is it inappropriate to show up to a fishing event armed? Just kidding…....

OOOPS
TOOBIGTOYAK  08/30/2005 - 14:42    I may have started something. By the way any goose hunters out there got any clue where to find the birds???(sorry Jeff I can't help myself)
