Fish with Cap'n Jack
smalljaw  02/03/2004 - 06:14  Guide Services
It is with great sadness that we have learned that Cap'n Jack West passed away in May 2004. He will be missed by many. There is a very nice tribute to Cap'n Jack on the River Smallies web site.
We are gonna miss you Jack

The headwaters of the James River and the New River are considered by many to be the two premier smallmouth fisheries in the country. Cap'n Jack will share with you his two favorite trips, a guided experience that allows you to fish both rivers in two days. Contact him about his "Two World Class Smallmouth Rivers - Two Days" guide package. Single days on either river are available also. References furnished upon request.
For the smallmouth experience of a lifetime, contact Cap'n Jack

Will indeed be missed
oppiey  05/20/2004 - 09:56    I had to pleasure to meet Capt Jack, a nicer man could not have been found on earth. His knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge will be missed by the angling world.
When I get the heaven I am booking a guided trip with him on the great smallie river that I know is there.

Phil

Well said Phil
smalljaw  05/21/2004 - 14:31    Phil, I count you as blessed to have met the man. I had not. Although I had never discussed this with anyone I had in the front of my mind that if I was ever going to fish the New then the first time would be booked with Capn Jack. His humble demeanor and his never ending happiness for the other guy always struck me as uncommon characteristics these days. I going on that trip too so save me seat in the raft.
