Great day on the Monocacy
oppiey  05/07/2005 - 20:49  Trip Reports  Monocacy    My freind John and I did a trip to the Monocacy today. What a day, big fish day that is. Well,, big for that part of the river. I have not seen so many 14"-18" come off the part of the river in my life. of the 20 fish we landed only 4 were under 14". The big fish was 18" second was 17". The fish had lots of fight in them. and tubes was all that was used today, no need to change to anything else once the bite started. We were on the river around 930 but the bite did not start till noon. THe big fish caught by John was mid river in 2ft of water and in current, nothing else around. I guess he just caught it moving from one place to another. Most fish were caught in deeper water or eddys. We did not get a lot of pictures because we were not sure if the spawnn was on or not so we got the fish back in as fast as we could. We did get a picture each that I will ask Jeff or MIke to post. The river is looking great guys.

All I was wondering was if the fish were biting or not and it looks like the last bit of information is in based on your success. I have been dying to get out on the Monoc but family commitments have overtaken my ability to get away long enough to do some damage. Maybe soon.

Well done Oppiey!!

What a weekend!
