Thanks for sharing the info and links. It was helpful. So many questions , so little time.

I'm new to the Eldersburg area, but live very close to Liberty Reservoir...and have been down to the boat dock just about every day (walking my dog). All of the boats I see down there are using one of
these.

we're glad you found us too. I don't have any direct experience with the Grizzly or Maximizer motors but I can provide you with my opinion :)
The Grizzlies are heavy duty boats so I would go with the biggest trolling motor that I could afford for running around on the lake. While you are actually fishing I would say that you could probably get by with something 43 pounds or less. The 24 volt setups will run stronger and longer throughout the day than an equivalant 12 volt setup. My personal preference would be to get two motors for the two different requirements. I, personally, would not buy a Motor Guide. I have one and while it is a nice motor the shaft will eventually get bent and have to be repaired/replaced. Stick with the Minnkota trolling motors or have a look at the Briggs and Stratton electric outboards.
You probably already know this but before going whole hog on a setup for Liberty Res you should read
this post about the "special" restrictions they place on boats that can be used on Liberty.
