Strike 5
smalljaw  04/01/2005 - 21:37  Trip Reports  Impoundments    Muskalungee and I hit Black Hills after work today for about an hour. Water temp 51 degrees and the lake was fairly clear. Mike was there when I got there and was fishing a point where we know there is a deep channel nearby and is probably a staging point for the green bass as they head towards the bedding areas. I fished a tube (2 colors), my $15 Lucky Craft, and a white spinnerbait. The white spinnerbait yielded a chunky but sluggish 12 incher which turned out to be the only fish of the outing. Got the LC stuck on a big log and I had Mike wondering if I was going to wade out there and get the thing. I was glad I put that 2/100 Power Pro line on that setup when I winched the log and the bait about 30 feet through the grass to get it back. All in all another nice day.

I can't finish this without saying how great Muskalungee's guide service was. Putting me on the fish and then staying back to let me catch'em. :)
You did better than I
Captwalleye  04/02/2005 - 07:44    Glad to hear you all made it out,and got one.I hit a pond and struck out again.I tried buzzing the cattail edge with a spinnerbait,a Senko, and going in the jungle flipping a jig. Score: One big goose egg.Go figure.Maybe next time...

Good guide
muskalungee  04/01/2005 - 22:48    Well, it's a guide's responsibility to put his clients on the fish....and that's what I did. Like I said when we wrapped up, I was just prefishing for tomorrows big day. :)

Muskalungeeeeeeee!

I use that line too...
Captwalleye  04/02/2005 - 08:17    I use that line too,but it's true.My girlfriend and daughters like to rag on me when they dust me fishing. My reply to their success is my dedication to providing them with the most choice lures and spots to cast to,and being willing to put them first.Though there does come a time where you just got to show them how to do it.I do enjoy, and get alot of satifaction out of when my partner does good. That's fishing too.If you guys go today,I hope you flat out tear them up!
