DanMarino  10/31/2011 - 07:23    I'd say that my favorite way to catch smallies is on a white buzzbait.

I catch plenty of smallies on green pumpkin grubs and tubes when they aren't hitting the buzzbait.

I try to pattern the bait & a

Jedwards36  10/31/2011 - 15:07    What colors imatate pumpkinseeds or minnows, also what minnow species is in the monocacy river? Thanks

You have to be alittle more specific
Captwalleye  11/01/2011 - 06:30    What type of lure? Tube,grub,jerkbait,buzzbait,etc..

Tube...the infamous green pumpkin or green pumpkin with purple tentacles

Grub...green pumpkin, smoke with black flecks, pumpkin seed (which is like a translucent brown)with green or gold flecks.

Stickbaits....black/white,gold/black,silver,white

Suspending jerkbaits...same as above adding black/orange,white,or just about any color. You looking for a reaction bite on these, and the wilder color show up better and seem to push a Smallie over the edge where it's just got to swim up and slap that silly looking lure.

These are just my opinions and what works for me.What everyone's written is just what works for them. You've got to take these suggestions and see If they'll work for you.You and I can stand right next to each other and fish the same exact lure. You may just take me to school because you have confidence in that lure and have worked out a retrieve that they can't refuse.I'm standing there beating the water to a froth and catching nothing.Don't be afraid to try something new or change up on your presentation. If you have a lure that your confident in,than fish it and enjoy yourself.

Favorites? The bait I am throwing at that time!
REB9  10/24/2011 - 21:11    I will throw most any bait.

4 inch grubs never fails. Smoke flake, Smoke Purple Green Pumkin, White. Can't go wrong if you are throwing a grub on the right size head. Flowing hard, throw a quarter ounce. Flowing normal, throw a 1/8th ounce. Summer flow, throw a 1/16.

Jerkbaits in the spring and summer. Natural colors with clear water, firetiger with a stain. Black with mud...

Spinner bait.... Yellow, Chart, or white. Spinner with smoke grub.....

Crankbait... Firetiger, crawfish, or natural....

TOp water when she warms up through the fall. Buzzbait, white or yellow. Tiny Torpedo... I am partial to black shore minnow... Spook em up. Natural.

Go get em!!!!!
