DanMarino  07/18/2010 - 15:34  Trip Reports  Potomac    Went to the Potomac yesterday between the 'doah and Great Falls. Got there at 6:15AM and fished until 1:30PM. The river was green and full of algae in the water column. Grass beds starting to grow and decomposing grass chunks floating on the surface too. Water clarity was 1 foot max or less due to the algae bloom. Saw one dead channel cat floating. Caught 5 smallies that all seemed healthy. Largest fish was 13 inches. Caught 3 other 12 inchers and one 11 incher. Fishing cut off around 9:00 AM. Water was 90 degrees! My next time on the river I'll have to try someplace cooler and see how it goes.
