9/25 and 9/28
Captwalleye  09/30/2009 - 06:27  Trip Reports  River    Took the day off on 9/25 and hit a river not so near.I knew the wind was going to be a factor, and knew that the water level was down.
I've never been to the particular area I fished when the water was down so low.Whoa! What a surprise.

The wind was suppose to be 5-10 mph well....I think it was more like 10-20.It overpowered the current easily and made for a very frustrating trip.

I threw a buzzbait and had a total of five blowups with two fish landed. Both were right around 10" long.I also threw a wacky jack on a circle hook.I caught my best fish of 14.25" on the first cast with it,and only had one other hit.The wind just got too bad.
So a long ride for three fish and alot of paddling. Not quite what I had expected.

9/28 I had the day off and hit a river near you. That was a short and disappointing trip too.The wind was unreal when it really started, and the water level is still low.The wind pushed you upstream and also caused ripples which hid the rocks from view when you tried to move around. That was a drag.I campaigned the same two lures again but added a Sammy.I got managed to land one on the Sammy and the other six fell for the buzzbait. The fish ranged from 6-15".

If the wind hadn't been so bad.I would have spent the whole day,but I wound up staying only three hours.I tried but...
tough trips
space inwaders  11/02/2009 - 22:29    Sounds like you toughed out some less than ideal conditions, but you caught quality fish on both trips too.

It must get frustrating when you cant really fish because your busy controlling the kayak in the wind. I need to get one myself though.

The river near you is back up quite a bit now, and fairly clear, time to get out again.

thanks for the report!
