Triadelphia?
DanMarino  09/17/2009 - 15:34  Fishing Forums and Chats  Impoundments    Hi Guys,

I've been fishing the Potomac pretty much exclusively since May, but I live just a mile away from Triadelphia Reservoir. I've never had much luck fishing at Triadelphia (especially in the hot summer weather), so I much prefer to hit the Potomac and actually catch fish.

With the approaching Fall weather, does anyone have any advice for fishing Triadelphia? Seems like no matter what I do I either get skunked or only catch one or two fish at Triadelphia. I'd love to change that. I've seen pictures of very big largemouth, smallmouth, pike, walleye, and striper that have been taken out of that reservoir. I'd love to learn how to consistently catch some fish there.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

ogbudha  09/19/2009 - 10:13    Those older, sterile revrs are tough. Summer fish are DEEP and then will bust flats at sundown. Spinnerbaits, topwater plugs ( jitterbug, torpedo, hula popper etc) Fall is a great time. It all depends on how they draw down the lakes. Im a die hard BIG crankbait guy in the fall. Ive also done well simply finding rocks ( like the maps I sent you) and dragging jigs and tubes across them.

Few schools of thought...crawfish in the rocky shallows ( tubes and jigs). Jerkbaits/cranks by ANY fresh downed trees. Deep diving crankbaits at the points with structure on them. Many of the locals have "hidden" fish pots/attractors/cribs, that they make during super low water times ( liek the pics/maps I sent you) Deep diving cranks...DEEP around these areas will produce.

The colder it gets and the lower the water..the easier to find the schools of shad etc. Fidn the pods of bait and youll find the pigs.

Ill go over other info with you in detail via PM or phone.

I was born and raised fishign on these lakes. Im no Jerry Sauter, but I know where these big girls are. Spring..EVERY cove hold big fish. Summer 24-26ft of water near stumps, FALL ..all depends on how they drop water levels.

If you're fishing from shore,
Capt.Nick  09/19/2009 - 06:16    If you're fishing from shore, the best way to get started in the fall to ice up is to try slip bobbering jumbo shiners for bass & pike.I've had better luck with walleyes in reservoirs with jigs & shiners cast to deep water, especially rip rap around bridges at twilight.

Have Boat, Still Not Many Fish
DanMarino  09/19/2009 - 07:11    We've got a 16 ft jon boat that we use on the reservoirs and on the Potomac.

So far this year I've caught some monster crappies while trolling x-raps.

Caught a tiny smallie on a buzz bait and

Caught a medium sized largemouth on a 8 inch worm.

Ogbudah mailed me some photos and maps to help get me started. I'll post back if we catch anything.
