Monocacy Wet Wade 8-15-09

Steve826 08/15/2009 - 12:05 Trip Reports Monocacy Roll Your Own Wet waded the Monocacy this morning with my dad from 8 to 11:30. Fishing was very slow. My dad caught 1 small smallmouth and I caught 2 small bluegills. The stretch we fished had some decent looking water but we just couldn't seem to get bit? The water felt nice though, we waded up to about mid-thigh level with no problems. Stumbled around a bit on some flat rocks but nothing too bad. Well while we didn't catch much of anything at least we kept cool in the river and there's always next time I suppose. Just thought I'd share.

Steve826 08/17/2009 - 10:27 I've never caught a fish on a buzzbait before...I really need to try your suggestion and just throw the heck out of it until I catch a fish. That's really the only way to gain confidence in a lure anyway.

Captwalleye 08/17/2009 - 11:44 Throw it until you catch one,and than duplicate your retrieve speed,and cast location.You get your confidence going and you can start calling your shots.

Captwalleye 08/17/2009 - 07:16 Put one on and start throwing.Give it plenty of time and play with the retrieve speed.You'll find your pace,and than the real fun starts.You'll also have a better chance at raising a leviathan with one.Try it,you'll like it!

best thing to do on a hot summer day

space inwaders 08/22/2009 - 14:22 The wading is fun, fish are a bonus. I've had some great days on creeks and small rivers in the mid-summer and caught good sized bass. Glad you guys tried some wading.
