Potomac
DanMarino  08/03/2009 - 07:17  Trip Reports  Potomac    Folks, I've been fishing the Montgomery County sections of the Potomac most weekends lately with my 11 year old son. Grass and algae is becoming a problem and fouling up our crankbaits. Been fishing a lot of tubes and flukes lately. Finally started catching fish on Gulp Alive black shad flukes that were deadsticked. Caught the most fish on Saturday using a green pumpking grup in 2-3 feet of water above a fast moving riffle area. All fish were small. Biggest smallies were only in the 12-13 inch range. Plenty of fish out there, but no big ones landed.

DanMarino  08/04/2009 - 07:09    Steve, we were mostly in the boat, but got out to wade a shallow riffle area for about 2 hours during the middle of the day. It was a great place to cool off/eat a snack and we caught the most fish just above the riffle area than we did anyplace. It was a good day even though the fish weren't very large. My son even caught two respectable rockbass there, so it was nice to catch something different for a change.

I haven't caught a rock bass
HookUp  09/04/2009 - 12:20    I haven't caught a rock bass in a month of Sundays on the UP.

But have found them up Goose Creek.

Nothing beats dumb luck

Sounds like a lot of fun.
Steve826  08/03/2009 - 10:00    Sounds like a lot of fun. Were you guys wading or fishing from a boat?

Steve
