CATFISH BAIT !!
jackson  05/22/2009 - 04:32  Trip Reports  River    Finally got a chance to hit a "little river" yesterday. And it felt good! Water was about 3' which made it reasonable to paddle upstream to one of my better fishing "holes"! Seen lots of wildlife on way, deer, fox, muskrat, Bald eagle, all kinds waterfowl, and a heron rookery which was in full swing! The purpose of the trip, although short, was to catch a few smallmouth. However, it ended up being a slug-fest with whisker fish! As you will see in attached photos, there were specific baits which they liked! Ended up with at least 8 on these baits. On a secondary note did catch 6 brown fish, and 1 greeny! Another upward swing of a few degrees and a drop of 6-12" of water and the feed-bag should really turn on for this "little river" !!!!!PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

space inwaders  05/23/2009 - 14:27    Didnt see the pics yet, but sounds like fun! The cats are approaching their spawn which means they're running upstream and feeding heavily!

I think i got one on a green powergrub last weds, but it came loose near the shore, couldnt see exactly what it was, but looked like a cat.

nice work, cant wait to see the pics

I guess Mike has not
jackson  05/25/2009 - 01:58    I guess Mike has not had a chance to upload to post? Anyway, caught on a variety of baits; green/pumpkin tube, small Cotton-Cordell crank baits, and even a 6" broken-back Rebel floater/diver! They were chasing and exploding on baits just like a bass would! Nothing really big, but a blast though! Good Luck, Jackson!!

Thanks Steve!
jackson  05/26/2009 - 07:33    I can post pics., but is my understanding that Mike wanted all pics, to go thru him first? Thanks for the offer anyway! Unless Mike tells me otherwise I'll just wait for him to post same. Good Luck, Jackson!!

Steve826  05/26/2009 - 12:00    No problem. I always post my own pictures without sending them to Mike first, I've just always figured he can take them down if he wants and I'd rather not bother him unless I need to.
