4-5 and 4-11 wading my favorite river
space inwaders 04/15/2009 - 23:13 Trip Reports
Been offline for a little while, busy moving into and working on my new 55 year old house near the doah'.
I got out sunday 4-5, solo to my new favorite wally spot, see if i could run into any.
I hiked around and explored abit about 2 hours before dark. Fished some nice looking areas, but no bites.
Went back to my new good luck area and waded out a bit. I got 2 fish in as many hours 20-21" or so. Lost a real big one, I couldnt move it, I felt the thud, and a big head shake, then into current and off...
look at those TEEEF!

Saturday 4-11 i had to work again, but at least i was out early enough to get to the river.
We hit our new favorite walleye area again. The water was about 2 feet higher than normal and stained, but not muddy, the water temp had also dropped in the last few days, along with a few cold fronts. It was also the perfect day on the calender according to the pattern i've seen in the past few months.
Annie started out with our favorite diawa lure in a natural minnow color which has produced more fish by weight than any lure i own, and i started out with a brighter color. Soon i had a fish, a small male. Soon another like the first, so i tied Annie a brighter lure too. She got a couple more small ones in no time. Good fun and good fighters. Small means 14-18".
Soon i see a person walking our way, we've run into some CHARACTERS at this place before, reminds one of the movie deliverance. I turned my light on so they'd see the spot was occupied, the person steadily approached us and in a rough deep voice, "WHATS UP MOTHERXXXXXS!" Then, we saw our good friend the Kuun!
I told him we had luck on big/bright, he quickly tied on a big chartruse and blue lure, and fished the pool nearby. I had been fishing along a current break and along a drop off, but tossed a few to a nearby pool. He promply catches the best fish of the night, about 20".

The kuun landed another about 19.5 and since it was eye hooked i decided to keep that one for a tasty meal.
it was a good time out, just nice to get out there, and we caught a couple.
This weekend- shad, herring, big cats, stripers. we'll see!
