First River Trip of the New Year!
REB9  02/16/2009 - 21:22  Trip Reports  Essays  River    Saturday morning found me wondering how to occupy my time before I needed to spend quality time with the wife for V-Day.... What to do, what to do?? Oh yeah, I have a boat, she was tweaked and itching to hit the river..... Water temp was looking real good at 42 degrees. POR gauge said just north of 3 feet.

I hit a local ramp at 10AM. Couple boats out on the water. River color was a nice greenish brown. Dropped the boat in the water and headed upriver. Glad I had my winter clothes and goggles! Throughout the day, I watched the water temp drop. She ended at 40.9 degrees by 3PM. Ended up catching a couple fish and didn't have any troubles with the equipment... All in all, a great way to start the year on the river! I think I got a nice picture of my first 2009 river fish.... Hopefully, I will be able to see it when I get the camera out of the boat.

Anyone else getting out..... Where is Capt. Walleye? Where is Muskalungee? SMALLJAW hibernating???? At least OGBUDHA and SPOTHOGG are out trying their luck.....

See you guys on the water... Maybe next week we will have a warming spell..... It is almost lunker time!

Crazy
muskalungee  02/18/2009 - 11:17    It's been a crazy couple of months for me. I battled pneumonia (and the after effects for about a month), had a wave of sickness strike my family and a couple other serious family matters to contend with. I have only been out fishing twice since Thanksgiving, but it hasn't been that high on my priority scale with the things going on at home.

I can't wait for March...and then April. :D

Muskalungeeeeeeee!

Hope you and your family
jackson  02/26/2009 - 16:06    Hope you and your family are doing fine now. I've never had pneumonia myself, but back last fall had to call ambulance for my wife. She thought she was having heart attack, but ended up being pneumonia. Get plenty of rest, April is just around the corner! Good Luck, Jackson!!

It IS lunker time
ogbudha  02/17/2009 - 16:38    We have 14 days until the fish start moving...a buddy of mine landed a pig on MY stretch..its tail was already swollen from rubbing. Its WEEKS away from making a nest BUT they do sometime warm up and do some stretching before they have their fun :)
