I agree with others, that it's a little lacking in general, but I'll probably go just to get out of the house. The last time I went, I purchased a nice map of Liberty, and bought a few bucktails. I also ran into an old buddy of mine from VA. He was with Alexandria Drafting...the folks that put out all of the topo and road maps. They sold the Co, which I think just does road maps now, and he got the fishing/topo map piece. It's funny, because we fished together numerous times, but I couldn't remember his name...and can't seem to remember it now...it sucks getting old. Please introduce yourself and say Hi if you see me!
Edit: Googling around, I found the fishing map Co.
GMCO, and my old buddy is George Martin (not the Beatles producer :)

only for the reason that I take a half day on Friday and it gets me out of work early, I get a mid-winter tackle fix and I just like it for some reason. Don't expect to get any fantastic never seen before deals there. That just ain't gonna happen. Muskalungee and I went together one year and he got Iaconelli's autograph.
IMHO the Harrisburg show is the one you want to go to if you want to spend the whole day somewhere. I think that one is in the first week of February.

I have been to this show the past several years and I only went last year because I was travelling just past the exit so I stopped in on Thursday afternoon. I have mostly bad things to say about this show but before I do I must also point out the positive and that is that the people from Susquehanna Fishing Tackle and also BigMouth Lures were very friendly and nice to deal with. Now, my complaint list is long so get ready. There are NO deals to be had here. Fishing tackle is more expensive here than it is at any retail or online store. If you are looking for good pricing, avoid this show. There are also less vendors year after year. The guy with all the shad bodies that you can buy by the pound was absent last year. The food at the concession stand is horrible. The room for the fishing vendors is way too small. The isles are way to narrow for the amount of people that come to the show. There is a $2 coupon that you can get on their web site but it is only good for Thursday and Friday. There is not much for kids to do except for the trout pond which allows you to try for 10 minutes before having to pay again to use it. This should be a free activity for kids. Also, the Maryland DNR has a booth here but you cannot purchase fishing licenses. What good does that do any of us? Is anyone from the DNR reading this? I don't want excuses, just show up and be able to distribute fishing licenses for all who want them and don't make an excuse that you ran out! If you can't do that, avoid the show and use whatever money you would have spent on more trout for stocking, or kids programs, etc.
Chumlee, thanks for the info.

Chumlee, thanks for the info. Hmm..maybe I'll think twice about taking a whole afternoon to go there. Maybe I'll spend that time breaking in my 09 license instead :)
Anyone else have any opinions?
