WHAT?? It gets a little cold and everyone moves to Florida for the winter? Where the trip reports people??

ogbudha 12/07/2008 - 10:15 Trip Reports River Roll Your Own Now that Ive stirred the pot a little..Ive been hitting the Lower Potomac in a buddies Ranger. Lots of winter hole and warm water discharge areas are producing fish. Jigs and blade baits have been producing some decent largemouth action. All fish are very fat but are anything but aggressive. The bait really bunches up in certain creeks this time of year..to the point where u can feel the ticks on the jig as you bring it back through certain spots.

In the last 3 trips the biggest fish has been just under 5lbs. Also a 12 pound catfish came off SJB ....thought we had state record largemouth at first.

Will be hitting a river near you again very soon. Anybody else go out? Or are you guys afraid of the cold?

jackson 12/12/2008 - 07:27 Started off bad. Had trouble with target panic. AGAIN! Finally went to a "Hindsight" setup and curred my problems with sight-view and eliminated the peep. First buck I shot over, 2nd under, 3rd time was the charm, a busted up 3pt. Forth was a mature dry doe, yum! fifth another doe, 6th shot over a nice 6pt. 7th a mature 5pt., which I believe he was going down hill, worn and missing teeth. Best year/week I ever had grunting in bucks and fawn bleating does! Not bad so far ,4 in the freezer! Waiting for the 2nd rut to kick in now! Captwalleye 12/08/2008 - 11:33 I've hit a pond three times in the last two weeks.I caught Largemouth Bass
6-14"on each trip,and the score was 3,3,and 7.They came on a 1/16oz craft hair jig fished slow across the bottom,and a SJB fished slow also.
I fished the Friday after Thanksgiving on a river near you.At your best buddy's spot.I was in the drink just up over my waist,and got one 15-16" fat Smallmouth for my troubles on a tube.The river god demanded a rather heavy toll for the one fish too.I also tried a SJB and even a FnF too,with no action what so ever.It was extremely windy that day and made for difficult fishing.
Got lucky and able to go Rock fishing off the Calvert Cliffs Power Plant this past Friday.We managed four fish on and landed three.I got a 35.25",and the other two were just a tad bit over 39".A long cold windy day but definetly worth it all.
If the weather does what their saying I may give a river near you a go again on Wed.afternoon.
If you get a chance to go.....end the year right and go for it!

Sounds ilke you found some good winter holes OGBUDHA those are some good fish!

I need to change my approach and try a few suspect spots soon.
