Took My Cousins Fishing
spothogg  08/23/2008 - 21:35

Took my two cousins fishing on the river today. Ran into Muskalungee after he picked his brother up at the ramp. We headed up river, and while it started out slow, we caught between 15 and 18, mostly small fish. The biggest was 16", which unfortunately, the fish didn't make it. It was hooked deeply, but we were able to get the hook out, and there was no bleeding. When we put it back in the water, she just stayed on the surface on her side. We tried to revive her a bit, but no luck. My cousin wasn't too happy, but I told him we did everything we could, and that just happens sometimes. The fish were mostly caught on tubes and grubs with a few on top water. It was nice to finally get back out on the water. We had beautiful weather and the guys had a great time.

Good seeing you guy..

Muskalungeeeeeeee!

nice!
ogbudha  08/24/2008 - 21:22    Nice Dan....nice!

Run the chute?

Sometimes Ive found that throwing my stunned/shocked fish in the dark/cook livewell will calm and revive the fish. Just some food for thought for next time. Oxygen..col..and dark will revive a stressed summertime fish. Glad you got out though!!

Filled the live well and left
spothogg  08/25/2008 - 11:56    Filled the live well and left it in the rest of the trip. Only had it out of the water for 2-3 min . Tried talking him (My cousin) into mouth to mouth, be he declined.
