Munkin  07/26/2008 - 18:45    Today, I checked last night and since no one replied I went by myself.
Was a great day actually as I caught like 75 fish. Most were very small but 2 or 3 decent fish? About noon I caught this years personal best on a football jig 23.5" and I am guessing 6.5-7lbs. I lost another big fish on the football jig so I plan on fishing them some more. Another odd thing is I had a SM hooked but lost it beside the boat? I did not think there were any in Black Hills?

muskalungee  07/28/2008 - 14:26    I caught a 12"er out of there about 8 years ago, I was shocked.

Allen, you need to get a camera if you're going to catch fish like that on a regular basis. :)

EXCELLENT DAY!
jackson  07/27/2008 - 03:41    Do not believe I've had a 75 fish day at this Big Pond in well over 10 years! Especially in sunny hot weather! Well done! Was it difficult to work a football jig in all that grass, even down to 20 'deep? Nice big fish! Any pictures? I have only logged in one 7# fish from this water this year, posted 4/11/08, usually several by this time. However, have not been able to fish it as often or as early as I normally have in the past. I've literally caught 8000 plus fish out of this pond and not a single one was a SM! When the pond opened up they advertised as having SM but have not personally seen one. I often wondered why not. When I was a kid I used to fish 10-mile creeks and little Seneca for hold over trout, fall fish, creek chubs or anything else that would bite and on rare occasion would catch a dink SM. However this was 20 years before they built the damn/lake. I usually avoid that place like a plague on the weekend with all the canoes, yaks, tour boat, and especially the pain-in-the-### motorized park boat patrol! It's usually tough enough in the gin clear water this time of year with out all the extra surface commotion. Good Job. Good Luck, Jackson!!

ogbudha  07/27/2008 - 06:50    Its been years and years since Ive had those 100 plus fish days on that lake. Smallies were stocked 20years ago. Ive seen a few and land a couple. Rip/rap near 7mile creek and the dam area produced. There are some monsters in there and its nice to see you found them deep. Ive marked some big girls in 25feet of water on those grasslines and its a challenge to get them to bite. NICE JOB!!
