Thought I Smelled A SKUNK!
jackson  04/14/2008 - 16:36  Trip Reports  Black Hills    It was one of those days at Boyds. It should have come at no surprise considering the weather/temperatures we've had over the last couple days. This time in lieu of a stiff SW breeze, had a gusty NNW wind. Water temps. fell from 58/64 to 54/59 degrees. It took me over 4 hrs. to get bit, but in the end I was thankful to get that! Between 8:30 & 3:30 I only managed 2 fish, neither of which were over a pound. Both on crankbaits. When I arrived At the ramp there was not one other boat! Very, very unusual for this time of year, no matter what the conditions are. What's even more unusual is that not one boat launched all day! At least not up to 3:30 anyway. Sure could not put the blame on boat traffic! Considering the rising air temperatures which are being fore-casted over the next few days, you can bet your last dollar I'll be at the ramp first thing come Thursday morning. I Believe if one had the patience and a handful of jigging spoons you could coax some of those fish locked onto stumps in 20 to 30 feet of water. I just don't have the patience! Good Luck, Jackson.
Feast or famine
muskalungee  04/15/2008 - 09:05    I've had almost the same exact experience this year, and the more I think of it the more I realize that it happens to me every spring. The temps have been all over the place this year and fronts have been moving in right and left, I can only imagine how the fish are feeling.

I agree, Thursday into the weekend is looking pretty good...should be go time!
