Battle Scarred
smalljaw  10/14/2007 - 15:46  Trip Reports  Potomac    Had a few things to do this morning but seemed like I had enough time to get out for a couple of hours. Well, Sam and I launched out of Noland's at about 1pm. Ran downriver then back up. Was windy and LOTS of weeds. Pushing the edge I tried to run upriver to POR and never saw the rock. Hit it HARD and it made a nice dent in the front left side of the hull. So there...it's done now. I know what it feels like and I know what I did wrong. No fish but Sam was the man helping me put that boat back on the trailer.
What did you do wrong?
muskalungee  10/15/2007 - 08:27    ". I know what it feels like and I know what I did wrong."

Care to expound on this? I'm trying to learn as much as I can....

MIKEY
ogbudha  10/15/2007 - 14:15    You dont have to worry about it...your new rig is broken in! Plus it has a MOJO that will enable you to run it where the other guys stop to pleat their dresses! Im hoping the gauge at POR gets down to .90...at that level the fish will be unbeleivably condensed. This water level is just ....well...stupid.

When you are
smalljaw  10/15/2007 - 08:48    running river right don't forget to look river left :) I was running real close to the right hand shoreline and lost track of what was happening on the left. I hit a rock that was OUT OF THE WATER...no excuses there...rookie mistake...hopefully not a painful one :)

In the words of Joseph Conrad........
REB9  10/15/2007 - 19:00    The Horror, The Horror..... After my first (or second??) bad encounter with a mystery goonie I became a firm believer in caution being the better part of valor. Now I run where I know the goonies are. I still bump, but not that often... My hull is battle scarred, but no holes yet.....

Can't wait to see the first dent on your new ride! Each time you take her out you will have another " Voyage of Discovery". Learn from each and you will be a better boater and you won't wreck your hull.....

At the Rodeo, we can exchange stories about the war wounds on our hulls! I remember each one and have a good story about each.

You knew it was coming....
