"Walleye numbers have been expanding in the western segments of the river and are now found in good numbers throughout Washington and into Allegheny County. During a recent electro-fishing survey in western Washington County we recently collected a female walleye that was nearly nine pounds!"
Wow, a 9lb Walleye? That is nice. If you're curious at what a 9lb Walleye looks like, I found this pic online at http://www.trophywaters.com/gallery2.html:
That fish measured 31" which smashes my personal best of 25":![]()
..and just slightly smaller the Captains "In-Fisherman Master Angler" fish:![]()
Oh yeah, reading that story also reminded me of the first Walleye that I ever saw (in the Potomac or otherwise) was at the launch at Bond's Landing about 4 years ago. It was probably about 20" or so and was floating right near the ramp. I guess by now they must be pretty well established up in that area. Hmmm, no that I think of it, I know the perfect place to go up there and give them a shot. I just wish it wasn't such a hike....
