Introduction:
When MDfishing.org originally went live on the web (about this same time last year) our plans were to create a portal style site that would serve the fishing community across Maryland and its surrounding states. Like many plans made in life we eventually realized that it wasn't going to work out. For those thinking about doing the same thing for a site of their own you may benefit from our experience. There were essentially two reasons why it wasn't working:- We didn't have enough time to devote to consistently creating new content.
- There were already many other sites out there doing basically the same thing that we were trying to do.
Our Mission:
At MDfishing.org we are providing a place and a set of tools for authoring a series of "net" books about fishing in Maryland and its surrounding regions. The site webmasters are serious Smallmouth Bass fisherman that primarily fish the Potomac and Monocacy Rivers. We are going to start the ball rolling with a couple of these net books focused on Smallmouth fishing in these rivers. You are welcome and encouraged to contribute to these books. Even better, though, would be for you and your fishing friends to start your own book about a place that you want to write about. We'll make contributing easy enough for just about anyone to write a book. There will be some common sense rules to keep things from getting out of control but for the most part we'll supply the typewriter and the paper and you will get to say your piece. We hope that you will get excited and contribute a wonderful resource that we all will benefit from.
